Cliff Yates writes poetry and non-fiction. He has worked with entrepeneurs, social services and a community interest company. He employs creative techniques to improve clarity, precision and confidence. A former English teacher, he was commissioned by the Poetry Society to write a handbook for teachers following the success of his students in writing competitions. He has led courses and workshops for many organisations including the Arvon Foundation, the Poetry Society and the British Council. He was RLF Fellow at Aston University. He holds a PhD in Creative Writing & Poetics and has published extensively on the teaching and process of writing. Awards for his poetry include the Aldeburgh first collection prize, the Poetry Business competition and an Arts Council England writer’s award.
